- [Instructor] A pivot table is a dynamic tool you can use to summarize or find patterns in the data in your sheet without ever having to enter a formula. Let's take a look at how to create and use a pivot table in a Google Sheet. I'll show you how using my solar product sales spreadsheet. You'll notice I've organized my data into columns. It's best to organize your data into columns for pivot tables because the column headers will become the fields that you add into your pivot table report. Once you've opened the sheet with the source data for your pivot table, you don't even have to pick a range of cells To add to your pivot table. Google Sheets will suggest a range of cells for your pivot table. You can always edit the data range at any point. To add the pivot table, click the insert menu and select pivot table.
