- Navigation apps on your phone or in your vehicle do a great job of getting you to where you need to go and helping you find nearby businesses and services. GIS software lets you put your own world, the data that's important to your organization, onto the map. You probably know how to find a navigation app, like Google Maps, but how do you get GIS to your staff? The simplest way to let your staff access GIS is through an app on their phone, mobile device, or web browser. It takes some setup on the backend, of course, but a map-based app allows everyone in the organization to see the same data simultaneously, and everyone can ask the map questions. Managers can see dashboards of current activity. Engineers can see your organization's assets and their condition.
