- [Instructor] In Excel, there's a category of functions called database functions. Now, when you use functions, particularly if you're not familiar with them, maybe you've never heard of the database functions. Of course, if you're a little bit curious and trying to figure out how one of them works or you've heard something about it, where are the functions found in Excel? On the formulas tab. Various categories are listed here. We're not seeing database. Let's click more functions. Statistical's there. But where's database? It's not here. And yet, these functions work. There are 12 of them. They all begin with the letter D, and they're followed by other functions that you might be familiar with, like average and count and count A and a few others in here. And DSum, which is the first one we'll be seeing. Now, the term database really is inappropriate in Excel in one sense. I know the term is loosely used, but Excel's not a database package.
