Highlight cells by applying a rule
- [Instructor] PivotTables help you summarize large data collections in an Excel worksheet, but it can be hard to find data that matches specific criteria just by looking at the numbers. For example, in the sheet in sample file 05_01_Rule, which you can find in the Chapter 5 folder of the Exercise Files collection, contains values that go as low as 15,000 to other values that are over 500,000. It can be difficult to find values that are, say, greater than 400,000. What you can do though is create a conditional format that changes the formatting of cells that meet the rule you define. To do that, click any cell in your PivotTable, and then on the Home tab of the ribbon in the Styles group, click Conditional Formatting and to create the type of rule that I want to create in this movie, point to Highlight Cells Rules.
