- As we go deeper into advanced Excel, there's something that I have to let you know about. In the Excel world, the number one controversy is over index match are V-lookup. There's index match people who say you should never, ever use V-lookup. Beginners should never be taught V-lookup, but I am here to tell you, they are two legitimate tools. V-lookup is a function, index match is a nested function. V-lookup does have some weaknesses and I cover some of those in other videos in the course. But I just needed for you to know that there is this controversy and I invite you not to get sucked into it. But this is your choice, whether you want to exclusively use index match, that's your choice. If you want to use V-lookup sometimes, index match sometimes, or better yet, X-lookup, these are choices that you have to make, for your context.
