Creating a document and choosing a page size - InDesign Tutorial
From the course: Designing a Book
Creating a document and choosing a page size
- [Narrator] Let's create our new document. File, New, Document. I'm going to set my unit to inches. I'll be changing to points, but in terms of choosing a page size, I'm going to express this in inches. I'm going to use a page size of six by nine inches. Portrait orientation. Start out with just one page. We'll be adding the other pages automatically. Facing Pages, because we want to see left-hand pages next to right-hand pages. I'm not going to use a primary text frame. Don't think they offer us anything that we can't achieve in other ways. A single column. So, the Column Gutter becomes irrelevant. I'm not going to consider the margins at this point. That's going to be the next step. Bleed and slug, we don't need one. The artwork will not extend to the edge of the page. So I'll go ahead and click Create. There is our starting point, a single page, six by nine inch document. Let's now save this, Command + S, and I'm saving it as an INDD file, an InDesign document.
