From the course: DaVinci Resolve: Software Features and Workflows

Using external hardware

- In this chapter, we're going to be talking about what I have surrounding my DaVinci resolve software surrounding this setup here, because all of this gear here is designed to make me faster, to make me more efficient and really to allow me to collaborate with others. When you take a look at the dedicated reference display I have here, when take a look at the client monitor behind me, all of this is around collaboration and working at the speed of thought. And so in this chapter, we're going to be breaking down some of the gears I'm working here and giving you reasons why you might consider eventually working some of this stuff into your particular setup. The people I have in mind for this are editors, colorists, and audio mixers, who can really benefit from getting off of a mouse and keyboard and onto their hands. So that the way their brains are thinking, and then you get this muscle memory with your hands, your hands connect with these various surfaces and buttons, and it then updates the software. So now you've got this physical connection to your software, which is really quite fantastic. It's one of my favorite parts about being an editor or being a colorist, or when you're mixing and you can control the faders with your hands. There's really something about being able to use your body. So let's go ahead and dig into that.
