Why contrast control rolls off your highlights and shadows

- For this movie, I've imported the timeline 01-13 test generators, and I've got two test generators in here. And what I've got is a grayscale, and this grayscale, as you can see here on the scope, you've got this straight linear ramp from black to white and this is going to reveal some of the behaviors of our controls, and then specifically what we're going to look at is the contrast control because I'm going to show you what the behavior looks like and some of you may object to this behavior from time to time, and I'll show you how to adjust it back to what's called the legacy behavior or the old behavior of the contrast control. So I'm going to click and drag to the right and add some contrast to the image and notice how the end points are stuck at pure zero on the bottom end and a hundred percent white on the top end and in the middle, we get this nice gradual slope, kind of what's called an S-curve, 'cause it kind of…
