- Now we're going to move off of saturation and start talking about brightness. And really specifically, what I want to talk about is a question that I get all the time which is, Patrick, where do I set my highlights? Where do I set my shadows? I look at my waveform, the waveform goes up to 100. Does that mean that every single shot I need to hit 100 on the highlights? And the answer is absolutely not. So we're going to talk a little bit over the next few movies about where you want to set your highlights and your shadows, how you want to think about it, and the tools we can use to do that for very broad corrections as well as very targeted corrections. But in this movie, I want to give you the structure for understanding how to intelligently decide where do my highlights for a particular scene need to live so that you can make these intelligent adjustments using all of these different tools.
