- Now that we've got a timeline set up, let's look at basic editing concepts here on the cut page. If you're an experienced editor, I've got two warnings for you. One, the cut page is going to seem, I don't know, a little gimmicky at first. That's certainly how I felt about it when I first saw it, you're going to find it to be a little strange and some of the design decisions to be a little mystifying, but try it because the second point I want to make is, if you're an experienced editor, there is a lot more power on the cut page than is immediately obvious. There are a lot of new ideas and concepts that you're not finding in other nonlinear editing systems being executed on the cut page, especially around the notion of being able to very quickly sift through large amounts of media and quickly assemble them into timelines. Especially if you get the hardware speed controller from black magic design, that really doubles…
