Data security and encryption
- [Instructor] Data security is covered in detail in the Cloud Security Alliance's guidelines, in domain 11, Data Security and Encryption. A key consideration when running Cloud deployments, is how to make sure inappropriate, sensitive information, doesn't get accidentally uploaded. Data filtering controls can be used in conjunction with information labeling, to monitor the sensitivity of traffic being uploaded. These form of controls come under the category of data loss protection. Moving data into and out of the Cloud can be done, using traditional on-premise solutions, such as secure FTP. But this is typically less effective, and more prone to security weaknesses, than using the Cloud provider's data migrations mechanisms, where data is processed and stored in the Cloud, then access controls and encryption, are the traditional core controls which can be used. An emerging new approach may also provide protection, by…
