Who determines accessibility standards for websites?

- [Instructor] There is no established authority on inclusivity. Several leading organizations publish recommendations, but there isn't a clear leader in any one area except the area of worldwide web access. The World Wide Web Consortium, more commonly called the W3C, has established accessibility guidelines for inclusive design and provides tools for site testing. The W3C is an organization that works to develop protocols and guidelines that ensure long term growth for the web. This is important work, as people from all over the world contribute to content and development. People with different languages, ideas, and purposes unite under the W3C's agreements on best practices. The W3C has been investing in its Web Access Initiative, or WAI for short, since 1997.
