- [Instructor] Now that you know shapes in Visio diagrams can contain data, you might have additional questions, such as, can I create my own data fields? Can I see my data right on the diagram rather than needing to run reports? Is there an easier way to get data into the diagram than typing it field by field? The answer to all three questions is yes. You'll learn the basics in this movie, but feel free to explore each topic in more detail by watching Advanced Visio: Working with Data here at LinkedIn Learning. To create your own data fields, right-click anywhere in the shape data window, and select Define Shape Data. Begin by clicking the new button and typing a label for your new data field.
