Summarize your notes

- [Instructor] Copilot can take the notes you jotted down during a meeting and summarize them to give you the important points and quickly highlight the key information that you're looking for. For example, here are some notes that were taken during this product launch kickoff meeting. There's a lot of information here, and maybe we're in a situation where we have to prepare for our next meeting, but we also need to get a rundown of this meeting to our manager. Let's see what Copilot can do to help us in this case. From the home ribbon, we'll select Copilot. And that opens up the Copilot pane. Here at the top of the pane, we have things you can do like summarize, draft a to-do list, and list pros and cons. Now, I do want to create a summary, but I also want to make sure Copilot gives me some specific information. So I'm going to come down here to the compose box, and let's type, "Create a summary of these meeting notes. At the end, provide a bulleted list of action items, and create a separate section highlighting Anna's contributions to the meeting," because maybe my manager wants to know what ideas Anna is proposing. Now, because I intend to send this to my manager, I'm also going to add, "Compose this summary in the third person," because Copilot will usually write summaries saying things like, "You did this in this meeting or you asked the question," and I wanted to write these notes so they're not addressing me directly. Now, also because I didn't select any specific text, this prompt will apply to all of the notes on this page. But if I needed to, I could select only certain text if I want Copilot to focus on just those parts of my notes. In this case though, I want it to summarize all of my notes, so I'll click the send button. And there it is. I'll just expand the Copilot pane so we can see the summary a little bit better. So you can see it's pretty detailed. It's not addressing me directly, I don't see the word you anywhere. And notice it did include both the action items in a bulleted list like I asked for, as well as a summary of Anna's contributions to the meeting. So I could copy the summary and paste it into an email or other document to share with my manager, of course, after I've read through the summary myself and checked its accuracy and made any necessary edits. Now, we can also ask Copilot follow-up questions or make other requests. Notice we have some suggested prompts down here, like what were the main topics discussed in the meeting, what were the action items assigned to Pedro? So Copilot can help you analyze your notes and spotlight individual aspects or perspectives depending on your needs. So if I didn't find any of these prompts useful, I could just type in my own prompt. I could ask what are some unique selling points we can use? And you can see Copilot offers these suggestions based on my notes. So even if you don't need a full summary, Copilot can help you gain perspective and insights into your notes.
