- [Instructor] Previously we covered the essential elements of business continuity planning, and we went over some examples of potential disasters including national disasters or cyber attacks and so on. So let's go over in a little bit more detail of the goal of disaster recovery. Disaster recovery planning steps in where the business continuity leaves out. Basically, whenever a disaster materializes or strikes, or an interruption of business activities occur, the disaster recovery plan guides the actions of your emergency response team until the end goal is reached, which is of course to restore business to the full last known reliable operation. The recovery of a business function may be done independently of the recovery of IT or communication services.
