- Digital forensics is the process of collecting, analyzing and preserving different evidence to investigate or even prevent digital crimes or a specific attack. The whole concept focus on recovering and examining data from digital devices and networks. That can be a mobile phone, that can be a server, an application in the cloud, a docker container and so on. And these techniques are often used in legal, in cybersecurity and law enforcement context. Of course, we're focusing here in the cybersecurity context, but this can be applied to many different scenarios. For example, let's say you had an insider that was actually stealing information from the company and you want to potentially collect evidence from their system then, of course, that's a context related to cybersecurity and also related to a criminal misbehavior within the organization.
