- [Instructor] Product owners and/or business analysts often run to a solution without having a good grasp of the customer's problem. But failure to completely understand the problem usually leads to an incomplete solution. In this video, I'll cover the importance of identifying a problem and how a thorough understanding of that problem can help you generate a suitable solution. There are three steps to identifying a problem. First, analyze the problem. There are several ways to analyze a problem. In my career as a business analyst, I've mostly used mind mapping. While using these tools and conducting my analysis, I make sure that I answer the four Ws: Who is impacted, when they are impacted, what are the areas impacted, where is the impact, and how they are impacted.
