- [Instructor] UML, or the unified modeling language, is a standardized visual modeling language that on its own can be used to represent the design and structures of software systems. In this course, we're not going to rigidly adhere to the UML standard as we're not creating engineering drawings, we're creating cloud architecture diagrams. And most cloud architecture diagrams use icon sets provided by the cloud providers. So we can use these icon sets and the unified modeling language to create our cloud architecture diagrams.
