- [Instructor] Possibly the biggest change in the tech world in recent years is the development of generative AI. This is AI that does more than categorize or classify things, like predictive AI. It's now making things. It's generating them, like an artist who creates a painting from a blank canvas. It's really not exaggerating to say this is a new world. Now, I want to show a pretty clear timeline for the change. We looked before at Google Trends data on the relative popularity of the search term artificial intelligence, and you can see a spike in 2012, when deep learning neural networks first became available to professional researchers. But then you see this huge jump after OpenAI released ChatGPT to the public on November 30th of 2022. You know, then you can look at things like GPT, a term that really wasn't even in the lexicon until that time, or of course, ChatGPT in orange we can see above that.
