381 ANNOTATION - DATAEXTRACTION command in AutoCAD drawings

- [Instructor] There will often be a need to extract the data associated with your blocks in your AutoCAD drawings. So that's where we're going to go in this particular AutoCAD tip and trick. So we've got a drawing for you, 381-DataExtraction.dwg, and you can download it from the Library to follow along with this particular tips and tricks video. Now, when you open up the drawing, make sure you're in the Model tab and make sure that Text is your current drafting layer, like so. Now you can see there's various blocks available in the drawing. So, if you hover, you can see we've got chairs, computers, desks, et cetera. And we're going to extract the data of those particular blocks and insert a table into our drawing to list all of that data. Now to do that, we need to create what they call a data extraction file and then set some settings and then just say to AutoCAD, "Please place the table on the Text layer for…
