- [Instructor] We're starting another AutoCAD tip and trick now, and what we're going to try and do is in a few moments cover how quick and easy it is to set up an AutoCAD drawing template file. Now, an AutoCAD drawing template file is a DWT file. When you're working with your drawings, they're DWG files. And what you normally do is you normally create a new drawing from a template file, a DWT. So you're creating a DWG from a DWT. But a lot of people don't know how to create a simple drawing template, and more to the point, don't know where to store that drawing template, that DWT file, for people to use it. Now, in my role as a CAD manager over the many years that I've worked with AutoCAD, I've set up many drawing templates for use by organizations so that all their templates are set up so they don't have to keep creating all the basic elements that they need in a drawing file, in a DWG file.
