Build a framework for a hybrid project
If you're managing a pure agile project, you can stop right here. But with a hybrid project in Microsoft Project, a framework for the overall project can differentiate the traditional and agile parts of the project so you can track and manage them appropriately. In this example, the concept, high-level planning, and agile planning are all complete so we can leave those out. This is a simplified waterfall schedule for supply chain improvements, so we can focus on how agile and traditional work together. Let's add a placeholder task for the agile project. To do that, select the Implementation Summary task. Then on the Task tab, go to the Insert section and click the icon to insert a task. That inserts the task in the table, and it selects the Name cell so we can type the name, and we'll call it Dashboard, and in parentheses, (agile), so we know that it's an agile project then press Enter.
