- The burndown charts are a powerful information radiator. They shed light on many of the obstacles the team encounters. These trouble spots will mostly be visible in the sprint burndown chart. The release burndown is usually too high level. Let's see what some of these troublesome burndowns look like. There's an easy way to remember the five most common problem burndowns. Try to remember the acronym PEACH. This stands for pessimistic, epics, adding, cooking, and hang gliding. P is for pessimistic. This is when the team is just that, they're too pessimistic about what they can accomplish. Often, teams just don't add enough work. This is very common when the team is just starting out. Usually the team sees that they didn't have enough work, then they slow their pace to fill the sprint. This gives the burndown a steep steady decline with a long trail off at the end.
