- Compare this big requirements upfront document to this user story. The story is one of the many requirements that could be in the big doc. There is a pretty big difference between them. This little requirement packs a powerful punch, so strong that it replaces the big requirements document. It captures something that a customer wants so that they can get some benefit. It is written as a concise statement of value from their perspective. The customer could be external to us, such as someone who would purchase one of our products, or internal, such as an employee that manages the product's description and purchase information.
