Spatial joins
Spatial joins are a really effective way of taking the attributes from one layer and put it onto the other. In our case, we're going to take the addressing that's joined to each parcel and attach it to the buildings that have no addresses whatsoever. So let's go into our Vector_ Analysis folder and we'll add the BUILDINGS shapefile to our current map. And we'll add the Parcels as well. There we are. So if we zoom in, I'll make sure that buildings are on top, we can see that there's a number of buildings here and they may not have any addresses on it. So I'm going to pick on buildings. I'll go into my Identify and pick on it and you'll see yes, that this particular building I've highlighted, it says it's a multifamily building, how many floors... That's it. There's no address. However, if I pick on Parcels beneath it, it tells me that it's Strata and it's got the zoning designation. This one may not have a house number, but the one beside it might. Yeah it does.
