Creating a formula to calculate field values
- [Instructor] There's no end to what you can do with formulas and custom fields. Formulas work with project fields, arithmetic operators, logical functions if/then comparisons, conversions, and formatting. Let's build a simple formula in a custom field to see how they work. Suppose you save a second baseline including new change requests. Now you want to calculate the work days between your original baseline and the new one. The first thing you have to do is choose the right data type. The number of work days between two dates is a duration so we're going to use the custom duration field. I'm going to click the heading for add new column and I want to add duration one. So I start to type in the name of the field and then I'll select duration one to insert it into this table. Now I'm going to right click the heading in that column and on the popup menu, choose custom fields. That opens the custom fields dialogue box…
