Troubleshooting events with the DebugView in GA4
- GA4 includes a robust and very useful debug view, and even if you think that everything is working great in your GA4, I recommend using it since it shows you exactly what is happening behind the scenes when data is captured in GA4. Let's learn how to use it. The debug view option is found here in the admin area of GA4 at the bottom of data display. You can see that when we first access it, nothing is shown. We need to activate it for information to show up here. There are four ways to enable debug mode in GA4. First is a Chrome extension, or you can use a parameter in the GA4 configuration code, a field in Google Tag Manager, or you can enable preview mode in Google Tag Manager. Honestly, a Chrome extension is the easiest thing to do. There is an official Chrome extension you could use, but I prefer this Google Analytics UTILS extension as it's very easy, and it also has other features that I think you'll find very useful when working in GA4.
