Creating a cohort exploration in GA4
- Cohort explorations group users together based on common characteristics. For example, visitors who had their first visit on the same date, or purchased something, or another cohort that you define. In this lesson, I'll use Google's Merch Shop, GA4, which is available for anyone to use. We're here in the exploration section, and we're going to find Cohort Exploration here in the list, and we're going to create a new cohort exploration. The default cohort exploration is looking at active users with the return criteria of any event at all. One important thing to know is that even if you have implemented user ID tracking, that user ID isn't taken into consideration when looking at a cohort exploration. Only the device ID is even though they use the language of users in this exploration. In the settings, first, we can choose how users are included in this cohort. Instead of looking at first touch, we can change this to be, say, any transaction instead to only show us users who purchased…
