- In March, 2024, Google renamed conversions in GA4 to key events, unless it's a conversion from Google Ads, and in that case, it's still called a conversion, but to make things even more confusing, while you can view conversions in GA4 in the Advertising section, you can't actually designate anything as a conversion in GA4, that has to be done in Google Ads. Key Events is also a weird thing to say for sure. You may still call key events conversions when speaking to your colleagues, boss or clients, and honestly, I'm sure that's fine, but for precision in this lesson, I'll make sure to be specific when speaking about key events. How can you decide what should be a key event? I believe that key events should be the ultimate goals for your website or app, such as someone purchasing a product, or filling out a form, or booking an appointment. You should track lots of events for various user engagement actions, but the only things that get promoted to key events are the things that help…
