- [Instructor] Accessibility first design prioritizes user safety as the top responsibility of visual design. Digital products may be confined to two-dimensional screens, but the arrangement and required interactions of a user interface can cause serious physical harm through repeated stress. Ergonomic layout helps avoid physical harm by placing frequent user interface elements in a more comfortable and efficient layout as well as offering users options to adapt the interface to their preferences and needs. Let's cover some common user interface patterns that can cause physical harm to users with long-term use. Many web apps, such as design tools, place important controls in two sidebars on opposing sides of the screen.
