Matrices instead of constraints in rigs
- Hi, I'm Church MayStreet. Today we're going to look at matrices and how they can be a replacement for constraints. Now, if you're familiar with the new features in Maya 2020, you'll realize that Offset Parent Matrix and matrices in general, are a great new feature in Maya and so I'm going to show you how to use them to replace constraints. Now, here I have a character, and I want to put them on the surfboard. Now in the old world, we would just use a constraint. So I would basically move that surfboard into place, maybe go into the outliner and so maybe I'll take that character's main control and attach that to the surfboard. So what I could do is select the surfboard then control, select the Main for the character, and then under rigging, maybe something like a parent constraint with maintain offset. So add that in and now when I move the surfboard the character moves around. Now this is a great way to do things…
