Beginner’s workshop lesson at 7:30 P.M., then 8-11 P.M. Contra Dance with Country Waltzing at the break and the final dance. This is a partner dance but it’s not necessary to come with a partner. We have different live bands and callers.
Time: Gates open at 5:30-6:15 am for 6:45am service; Sunrise at 7:16am
Celebrate Easter with us at this western North Carolina tradition. Chimney Rock has been hosting this non-denominational Easter service for almost 70 years. There’s nothing like watching the sun rise over beautiful Lake Lure and the blue ridge foothills. This event is free of charge, but participants must reserve a parking pass. Only one parking pass is needed per vehicle.
The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness welcomes children
of all ages to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00am on Easter Sunday, March 31. The
annual event is hosted by St. John's Young Family Ministry. Participants are encouraged to
join the fun in the Rector’s Garden and Parish Hall lawn at 1905 Greenville Highway, across
Rutledge Drive from the church. Parking is available.
"Since our founding, St. John in the Wilderness has been at the heart of fellowship and
community in Flat Rock and beyond,” said Fr. Josh Stephens, Rector. “We invite our friends
and neighbors to join us for Holy Week as we make our journey toward the cross and for
Easter Sunday as we discover that Christ is risen. We also invite children to our Easter Egg
Hunt between our worship services on Easter Sunday. We are so blessed to have such
wonderful neighbors and a beautiful place to live. It will truly be a gift to come together at
this sacred time.
Holy Week begins March 24 with Palm Sunday services at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. A special
foot washing service is scheduled at 7:00pm on Maundy Thursday, March 28. Good Friday,
March 29 outside and leading to the church, Stations of the Cross begins at 11:00am with
Good Friday Services inside the church at 12:00pm and 5:30pm.
On Easter Sunday, March 31, services will be held at 8:45am and 11am with the Easter Egg
Hunt in between.
The buffet cost, which includes your meal and access to the grounds for the day, is $45.99 per adult (13 and over), exclusive of alcohol; $19.99 per child (3-12); and free to guests two and under. There is no charge for the egg hunt (children ages 1-6), but please bring a basket and meet us at Kanuga Lake Inn playground.

The Friends of the South Buncombe Library are pleased to announce their first live, in-person book sale of 2024! We will have thousands of fiction AND non-fiction books, not to mention DVDS, CDs, and puzzles at bargain prices, in every genre and for every age group. Asheville Glass Market, a seasonal open air market hosted at Level 42 Gallery & Studio, focusing exclusively on regional glass artists! The AGM will be hosted once a season in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, with the first one being hosted on Saturday, April 13th, from 10am-5pm, and will feature over 40 local glass artists. These markets will coincide with “Second Saturdays” in the River Arts District which is by far our busiest foot traffic days of the year. While the market is hosted around the exterior of our building, inside we will be serving drinks in the gallery, and we will host an open studio with free studio time for local artists who want to collaborate, and for the public to watch.

Join Asheville GreenWorks, the West Asheville Business Association, Wrong Way Campground, and OnHaywood for a cleanup of the Haywood Road corridor in West Asheville. Breakfast and post clean up rewards will be provided to volunteers. A day where volunteers work to pick up trash and recycling along the Haywood Road corridor. We will also have an plant sale after the event! How do you participate? Tanger Outlets Asheville will host the sixth annual Drive Electric Earth Day Car Show on Sunday, April 21 from noon – 4 p.m. The event, sponsored by Sugar Hollow Solar and Hunter Volvo, will showcase electric vehicles and the latest innovations in personal electric transportation. Organized in collaboration with the Blue Ridge EV Club, Land of Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition and Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, attendees will have the opportunity to explore a variety of electric cars, bikes, scooters, hoverboards, one wheels and more.

Bountiful Bowls
On Sunday April 21st 1-5pm UNCA’s Health and Wellness Department and the Student Environmental Center will host Bountiful Bowls, an Earth Day and Food Waste Reduction Month event and fundraiser to benefit Bountiful Cities.
This FREE event is open to all. Community members and students are invited to come and celebrate outside the Sherrill Center at UNCA where they can enjoy some “stone soup.” Participants are encouraged to bring a vegetable or pantry item that can be part of the stone soup. We will celebrate Food Waste Reduction month using donated up-cycled produce to make the soup and a Panzanella Salad for attendees. Firefly Valley Pottery will lead participants in a hands-on experience with clay, and participants can take hand built pots with them. The Student Environmental Center will lead Earth Day activities and share information about sustainability.
Participants can purchase beautiful ceramic hand-made bowls (on a sliding scale) to support Bountiful Cities work, then fill it with soup or salad!
Tickets ($25 each) are also on sale for cooking classes with Plant-Based Nutrition Expert and Professor Amy Joy Lanou in the Teaching Kitchen at the Sherill Center at UNCA. Lanou will explore techniques to reduce food waste and cook delicious dishes with fresh and local produce. You can purchase a ticket to the cooking class and add on a ceramic bowl for $40.

Back Alley Boutique & Bud Bar is hosting the 2nd Annual Back Alley Hempfest on Sunday 04/21/2024 from 2-7pm. Explore Asheville invites you and your organization to contribute to the stewardship of our destination by participating in the inaugural 2024 Explore Asheville Travel & Hospitality Earth Day Cleanup, hosted by Explore Asheville and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority, with support from Asheville GreenWorks and RiverLink.
We encourage you to recruit two to three staff members to represent your business by taking part in the cleanup. Participants can choose the area of town they wish to clean up; each neighborhood will have a host venue for a pre and post-cleanup meetup.
Cleanup and Host Venue locations include:
- Downtown: Embassy Suites by Hilton Asheville Downtown
- South Slope: Burial Beer Co.
- River Arts District: The Radical
- Amboy Road: Wrong Way River Lodge and Cabins
- West Asheville: Cellarest Beer Project
The program will include welcome remarks and instructions, an approximately one-hour clean-up, and a post-clean up social with local brews and light bites.
What You Need to Know:
- The clean up will take place in five locations throughout Asheville
- Each location will have a host venue for gathering before and after the cleanup
- All participants will receive a free custom event t-shirt
- Participants will meet at their host venue at 2pm to check in and receive instructions and supplies
- The clean up will last one hour, after which participants will meet back at their host venue to return supplies. Social hour and networking to follow.

A wide variety of functional and decorative pottery, prints, and other artwork created by UNC Asheville students will be on sale in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery of Owen Hall on April 26 and 27.
The sale will be open to the public from 4 to 8 p.m. on April 26 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Department of Art and Art History.
A wide variety of functional and decorative pottery, prints, and other artwork created by UNC Asheville students will be on sale in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery of Owen Hall on April 26 and 27.

WNCAP (Western North Carolina AIDS Project) Dedicated to preventing new cases of HIV/AIDS and promoting self-sufficiency in people living with HIV. WNCAP provides HIV-related client support, prevention, education and advocacy activities guided by the belief that all people are entitled to equal access to health care and disease prevention.
WNCAP needs volunteers for the 2nd & 4th Saturday morning Food Box Delivery: 10am-noon. Ride with another team member and deliver pre-packed boxes of food to home-bound, food insecure families living in the Asheville/ Buncombe area.
