Position Title: Coordinator of Rural Homelessness Response

Department: Community Initiatives

Worksite Location: Saugeen Shores / Bruce County (travel required)

Position Type: Full Time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Days

Salary: Wages commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Start Date: As soon as possible

The Opportunity:

In partnership with the Municipality of Bruce County, the YMCA is looking for energetic, positive and passionate person to provide leadership and supervision to the Rural Homeless Outreach team, across Bruce County.

As the successful candidate, you are a member of the YMCA's Community Initiatives and Employment Services team that operates throughout Grey and Bruce Counties. Your primary role is to provide leadership and supervision to the staff within the Rural Homelessness Outreach program. You are an open minded, respectful and welcoming person with experience in providing supervisor to staff and direct services to clients of all ages. You are inspired by supporting other in their professional development work with a growth-mindset. You love your work and the difference you make, advocating for individuals in need of hope!

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to develop and implement creative responses to changing need, in collaboration with community partners. As required, the Team Lead will assist with direct outreach support while also supporting the Outreach team.

  • Ensure the efficient operation and continued development of the temporary shelter program, transitional housing supports and homelessness prevention
  • Provide guidance and support to staff in developing their own knowledge and practice through regular supervision
  • Assist with review of role descriptions, recruitment and orientation of new staff
  • Ensure referral pathways are clear and fully operational
  • Ensure person-centred plans are in place for every client with regular monitoring and evaluation
  • Maintain positive relationships with community partners and key stakeholders

  • Demonstrate your sincere interest in Homelessness Outreach by:
  • Confirming Post-secondary degree/diploma in Social Services or related discipline
  • Confirming 2-5 years of leadership experience in housing and/or outreach services
  • Demonstrating ability to be adaptive and creative with excellent critical thinking skills
  • Displaying integrity, empathy and professionalism
  • Demonstrating sound judgment and decision making
  • Demonstrating ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals
  • Confirming experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Confirming experience with trauma-informed practice and suicide intervention training
  • Demonstrating comfort with change and change management practices
  • Confirming ability to assess risk while maintaining a strength focused approach
  • Demonstrating innovation with the ability to develop and implement new processes and ideas
  • Demonstrating attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrating excellent administrative skills and proven ability in time management while working with a high degree of autonomy
  • Confirming Class G Driver’s License; able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties; must have own vehicle with valid automobile insurance
