Background:
This special issue delves into the intricate impacts of the ongoing conflict in Gaza on its healthcare system. The profound effects ripple through the region’s health services, presenting unique hurdles and testing the resilience of healthcare providers and systems. From direct damage to physical infrastructure to the indirect repercussions on public health, this issue aims to dissect the multifaceted dimensions of healthcare under conflict.

Our goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by Gaza’s healthcare system, highlighting the remarkable resilience demonstrated by frontline healthcare workers. We also shed light on the gaps in service delivery, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations—women, children, and individuals with chronic illnesses. Personal narratives and case studies offer an intimate glimpse into the experiences of those navigating the front lines: healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.

Additionally, we critically evaluate the role of international humanitarian response and aid efforts in mitigating these formidable challenges. The urgency of addressing healthcare needs in Gaza cannot be overstated, and this issue contributes to the ongoing dialogue surrounding this critical issue.
